Rahul Gandhi Questions Amit Shah Photo at Delhi Police Station After Protest Complaint
Rahul Gandhi questioned Amit Shah’s photograph at a Delhi Police station after accompanying injured student Sahil Lochab to file a complaint over July 20 protest injuries, followed by a sit-in until an FIR was registered.
On August 21, Gandhi accompanied Lochab, who was injured by pellets during a July 20 student protest at Jantar Mantar, to Parliament Street police station after earlier attempts to file a complaint had failed.
Following the unsuccessful attempts, Gandhi staged a sit-in protest outside the DCP office along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Congress leaders. The protest continued until an FIR was registered.
Gandhi’s questioning over Amit Shah’s photograph at the police station drew attention amid the ongoing political tensions surrounding the response to the protest. Supporters praised his questioning as “desi savage mode,” while critics said displaying the minister’s photograph is standard protocol for Delhi Police stations under the Home Ministry.
The episode unfolded against the backdrop of the complaint concerning Lochab’s pellet injuries during the July 20 student protest at Jantar Mantar and the earlier failed attempts to register it. The eventual registration of an FIR followed the sit-in by Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Congress leaders outside the DCP office.
The confrontation over the photograph added another point of political contention to the dispute surrounding the handling of the student protest and the police response.
